I haven’t read it yet, but I have it at home and plan on starting it when I have a few hours to burn.
I started reading it last fall when I saw him and his sister Annie (aka Poe, the singer) perform at a album/book reading/signing at a local Borders. It’s a fascinating book, incredibly detailed and quite well-written. Poe’s latest album, Haunted, is sorta-kinda inspired by the same stuff that inspired the book (the death of their father).
However, House of Leaves is not a beach read, and I generally do my reading on my subway rides each day. It’s a book that insists you sit with it for hours at a time. I only managed to read about 1/3rd of it before putting it aside for a time when I can dedicate more of my attention to it, which it definitely deserves.
