House painting question

I had my house painted about a decade ago, and it’s about time to do it again. My house was built in the 50’s and has wood siding. Changing to vinyl siding really isn’t in the cards, so painting it is.

Since the last paint job, round bubbles 1-2 inches across would develop on the painted house, particularly in the sun. I was told that it was due to the nail heads on the wood siding, seems sketchy explanation, but whatever.

I’m not doing the job myself, it’s too big a job. What tactic/quality of paint/etc do I need to insist on to make sure these bubbles don’t continue to occur with this new paint job? I’d like to sell house someday and don’t want the paint job to look shabby.

Thanks for all your help.

Read this for some information on why blisters form. It’s not from nail heads.

beowulff nailed it.

Oh please. It was a sand and patch job.

The biggest problem is moisture in the wood. In a humid climate it’s all the worse. IMHO if I were you I’d seriously consider putting on vinyl siding and be done with it.
