House Republicans seriously considering default or shutting down the government to coerce Obama

To be fair, Obama’s opposition to the debt ceiling raise was symbolic. The Democrats have never seriously threatened not to raise it during Republican administrations.

I can point out votes Boehner took both for and against debt limit increases in times of deficits, but I’m sure you have little problem with that… As do I. I think it is ludicrous to file Federal lawsuits over the 27th Amendment and even take them to appellate courts, and then pull a 180 and take the exact opposite view of the 27th Amendment when it is more politically convenient to do so.

I’m under no illusion that Boehner’s original lawsuit was anything but grandstanding. His arguments on the application of the 27th Amendment seemed to change substantively between the judgment of the circuit court and later appealing that ruling. But that makes it quite hard for me to believe that his current views on the 27th Amendment - which appear to be identical to what you are arguing - are also not worth taking seriously.
