Now the game is to see if the total changes.

Same 4 as last time. Two votes not cast so far - Democrats I think. Probably will circle back to them.
Cloud, Clyde, and Crane are the next 3… and they all voted Donalds. Onwards and upwards. Nice of so many of them to be early in the alphabet so we can ignore the rest of the vote once we hit the D’s.
He literally gave them everything they asked for and it doesn’t matter a bit.
So much for the reported concessions. Might need to start looking across the aisle.
ISTM the question at this point is whether McCarthy loses any more votes this time.
But yes, by now it’s clear: the crazies basically wants him gone, and to be given absolute veto power over who runs the House and how, and will only accept unconditional surrender.
it appears that this group is not taking kevin as an answer.
The chaos is the point.
At what point does some rational Republican Rep say, “if Kevin’s prepared to give them all that, I’m out” and nominate someone else?
This paragraph is so true…
While it’s not impossible to have sympathy for any political leader facing the reactionary extremists of the GOP’s far-right bloc, McCarthy made his bed. Throughout his 16 years in Congress, he has worn his political ambitions on his sleeve. He isn’t associated with any notable policy objectives, unlike Paul Ryan or Newt Gingrich. In a party that demands orthodoxy, his politics are malleable and transactional. He isn’t a leader who projects confidence or ideological consistency but rather a follower of the prevailing political winds.
That much is obvious. I’m not saying they should necessarily get their way, but it seems to me that the question is, who would be acceptable to them? And why?
or who is acceptable to the democrats to get them to hang out in the loo or corner bar while the vote happens.
Somebody just voted Trump. Clerk chuckles and moves on.
That must be the “Others” vote I see on the tally. Thanks, I was going to ask.
McCarthy said, this morning, that they’re still in negotiations and that he doesn’t expect any change during today’s votes. The votes are a mandated distraction that takes them away from doing what they need to do.
That said, it would be a good time for the centrists to show that they’re just as resolute as the crazies, so we could see some shots across the bow on that side.
Can anyone one explain why Donalds’ name is still there other than he’s black (based on one of his nomination speeches yesterday)
that was gaetz.
Gaetz of course. Suck-up.
because jim jordan told them not to use his name.
Note the “still” Why not move on to a new candidate?
I’d be curious what the result would be if all of the Democrats voted Trump.
In theory, he’s still the leader of the Republican party so everyone would sort of be obligated to choose him. And, as a result of that, it would tank the Republican agenda for the next two years since Trump would be completely ineffective in the role.
ETA: Though, probably not worth the risk of adding him to the Gang of 8, so nevermind.
