Corruption! People are saying Biden profited from his position of power by funneling official government business to his hotel. Oh, wait!
There are some details here:
Republicans allege that Biden’s son Hunter has profited in business dealings with foreign entities by arranging access to then-Vice President Biden. They also allege that the president himself has profited.
Separately, they also say that the Justice Department interfered with investigations into Hunter Biden’s taxes. U.S. Special Counsel David Weiss, who is leading that investigation, denies that charge.
So nothing, really, but it’s the same old boring nothing. Supposedly Hunter Biden got a lot of money by granting people in foreign countries access to his dad, and then split it with Joe. Basically, they are saying Hunter did what Jared Kushner is actually on record doing for the Saudis, except there is no evidence anything happened, unlike what is publicly known about what Kushner did (and was never investigated for, as far as I know).
Also, the fact that Hunter wasn’t given the death penalty or at least life in prison for a couple of misdemeanor charges, one involving a non-payment of taxes he admitted to and eventually paid, and another for a gun possession charge that is rarely ever prosecuted but Hunter got nailed for anyway. Well, that can’t stand, Hunter needs to pay, as the first step in bringing down the Biden Crime Family that is totally not something Donald Trump made up as a desperate deflection from his family’s own misdeeds.
If all they can find is that he used a handkerchief made in China when he blew his nose then, by ghod, that will be used to impeach him.
In fairness, McCarthy is making a great case to the rest of the world that they shouldn’t want his job.
Saw this and thought it sums this up:
You might look into the case of Spiro Agnew, former vice-president under Nixon. He was NOT involved in Watergate. But he would probably have been impeached (if he hadn’t resigned) for taking kickbacks from contractors during his time as Baltimore County Executive and Governor of Maryland.
Actually if you read a bit further in the Wikipedia article you linked you would see it was alleged the payments continued into his time as vice-president. From the section about the investigation of Agnew,
(Lester) Matz was prepared to testify that he had met with Agnew at the White House and given him $10,000 in cash
So yes, while most of this took place before Agnew was Veep the payoffs continued into his time in Federal office.
Biden needs two headlines to break through the many-months-old tie in his race against Trump (assuming Trump gets the nomination).
This one, on the day a Trump jury comes back:
And this one on the day the Senate votes on Biden’s impeachment:
I suspect House Republicans aren’t dumb enough to do their part, but we’ll see.
This is like Alice in Wonderland- There are no charges! Prove your innocence!
They got nothing, they know they got nothing, they’re just playing to an audience of one sitting in Maralardo.
Yeah, given today’s electorate, those headlines would definitely put Trump ahead.
Or him. Three hours ago:
Representative Matt Gaetz again raised the possibility of ousting McCarthy under the terms of a deal he agreed to become speaker, which gave any one member the power to call a vote for his removal.
Gaetz said the speaker could face multiple votes on motions to “vacate the chair” for failing to comply with a secret agreement that allowed him to become speaker in January.
That appears to be what he said, sure. Nothing about impeachment on the schedule for today – maybe in two weeks?
Yeah, they said they wanted “Impeachment” not an “Impeachment Inquiry” - c’mon, Kev, get it right, or get out of the way!
I’ve been hearing that McCarthy agreed to the impeachment inquiry as part of the agreement he made to become speaker. I wonder why Gaetz is now suggesting that McCarthy broke the agreement.
I suppose that’s the beauty of a secret agreement. It’s interesting to watch the Republicans to follow through on this agreement without admitting what’s in it.
Stealing this metaphor.
There’s some pretty deep cracks in the facade of the Republican party as they seem to lack anything resembling strong leadership. We’ve got one the weakest speakers in history and what other Republican is going to fill that roll? MTG perhaps?
Rabbit starvation is caused by a diet of very lean meat. Exclusively eating red meat is unhealthy but it won’t kill you as fast as exclusively eating lean meat. The fat in red meat would stave of protein poisoning and let you live much longer until deficiencies kill you.

Well, I did say:

It might further divide the party itself, though.
It’s happening faster than I expected for sure.
What are they impeaching him for, and on what grounds?
(I know it’s contrived BS political theatre and there’s nothing behind it, but something will have to be read into the record, and I’m wondering exactly what the story is supposed to be here).
