How accurate was Way of the Gun?

I know marginally more than which end to point at the bad guys, but most Hollywood depictions of guns is laughable. I just re-watched Way of the Gun and a couple things stand out. In one scene, someone gets shot from a distance. The stand-out thing was you heard zzzzziiishhh … BANG! The sound of the bullet preceded the sound of the gunshot. That was almost like hearing nothing in outerspace during Firefly. Another group of scenes had characters repeatedly reloading. Reloading? In an ostensible action flick? Yowza. Lastly, in many scenes characters hold guns with their fingers extended, not on the trigger—something I learned here was proper.

Were these just a few not-so-noteworthy examples in otherwise standard Hollywood impossibilities? Or is this something like the My Cousin Vinney of shoot-em-ups? If so, what other good-to-great films treat guns as well?
