how are afghanistan still a country?

there has been over 15 lethal cases of anthrax in the USA. And 1 in Russia.

And they still exist…

oh well.

Hmmm…This thread could get interesting.

I imagine wiping an entire country off the map because of a few anthrax cases might be seen as…Severe. That and the fact that we have no proof that the bacteria originated there.
Sits down, waits for flamers to chime in

How are this thread in this forum??

Sorry if its the wrong forum.

I know it is kind of a debate, but it was supposed to just be a statement, i.e my humble opinion.

Why should the people in Afghanistan be made to suffer for the actions of a few? And how to you propose to stop them being a country?

Yes thanks.

Is before you have make thead title this language, I think?

From what I’ve heard, the FBI still has not found any direct evidence linking the Anthrax to ObL or Afghanistan.

Well, then I think we have to ask:

How are FBI still work for USA?

Yeah! i say we just cut out Afgahanistan from our maps, then they will no longer exist! its so diabolical it just might work!

All your base are belong to us.

When 900 hundred years old, speak English as well you!

When I first saw the thread title, I agreed. Given their recent history I was suprised they weren’t part of Pakistan by now.

Then I read the OP. Huh? When did they determine that the Anthrax was coming from Afghanistan?

Ask the Taliban. Their actions seem to make a hell of a lot of Afghanis suffer.

I believe that the Taliban has already taken care of this. Their “rule” over the country differs little from lawlessness and “government by gunshot”.

The OP implied that Afghanistan, as a country, was responsible for the anthrax outbreak and therefore forfeits any right to exist. Apart from the lack of evidence, I’ve yet to see a credible plan emerge for how to force Afghanistan to cease to exist as a country.

Regarding your first point, fine. I’m no lover of the Taliban. But I doubt the majority of residents wish to suffer for the sins of their leaders. As for your second point, again I agree that the Taliban are hardly running a country by our standards, I don’t see how that forms a plan to end Afghanistan’s existence.

Your points are valid.

What I was trying to say was that getting Afghanistan to stop being a country is like getting two martinis to stop being a healthy lunch.

I also agree that the people of Afghanistan should not be forced to suffer for their leaders’ selfishness.

Actually the op’s question is a valid one. How can Afghanistan be a country with the borders as we know them, if the Northern Alliance has control in parts of the north, and the Taliban has control (albeit temporarily) in parts of the south? Does Afghanistan really exist as a country except on maps and globes?
