How are bedsheets, comforters, etc... 'printed'?

I was just shopping for a new set of bedsheets, and I was struck by the hideous designs of most of them. Of course, I go to Walmart as my default, then ebay, etc… but, in noting the garish flower schemes, I became curious: how are they printed? I’m assuming that they are all on some giant cloth roll that goes through…what? A giant plate press? Spray like some kind of giant 8 feet wide inkjet? Is it ink or dye, or are they the same thing?
Also, how often do the printing devices change their designs? How hard is this? It can’t be easy to redo these hideous ugly flower designs so often, yet, I don’t see the monstrosities this year that I did last year.
Any information?

Thanks,
hh

here you go. You can see that the machine could handle much greater widths than the one illustrated. The whole process from dirty cotton sheets to finished product is shown.

I imagine that the “hideous ugly flower designs” you see reflect the taste in your locality.

Totally awesome. Thank you,** bob++**.

I’m moving!
