I think Trump’s handlers will not let him debate, lest his dementia become too obvious. The Votemaster speculates that he will make an impossible demand (e.g. a debate moderated by Fox) which Biden will refuse and Trump use as an excuse to cancel.
Speaking of tax returns - Trump claims to have been under audit continuously for many years. Is it even remotely possible that no wrong-doing was ever uncovered? If so, he should be shouting about it. If not, what enforcement actions were ever taken and how would the public ever know? If it was enough to be criminal, where are the charges?
IIRC, the President has claimed he is under audit and cannot speak about his taxes for this reason.
IIRC, the IRS has said there is no reason for the above to be the case. You can be under audit and discuss your taxes or release your returns if so desired.
Regarding enforcement actions and how the public may ever know? Thanks to the recent ruling from SCOTUS and actions by the Manhattan DA there will be enforcement and the public will be kept apprised of what happens.
If anything criminal is found, there will be charges. Hopefully in late January.
IOW, the President is a liar, liar, pants on fire. Q: Know how he’s lying? A: His lips are moving.
What evidence do you have that Trump has handlers?
All they need is a shiny object to distract him.
Maybe the fact that they are insisting on a fourth debate. And when that is turned down, they will cancel the whole thing. I think they were asking for a Fox moderated debate.
Trump pushed for another debate just to show he’s boss or whatever. And because another debate will give Biden another chance to piss off progressive twitter.
The committee already said forget it. I doubt Trump cancels.
I can’t agree. Trump knows he’s trailing in the polls; underdog candidates will almost always want to debate. It’s unlikely to hurt them, it visually presents the candidates as equals, and it gives Biden chances to mess up on a big stage.
Biden is about 6’ tall, and Trump will be wearing his lifts that take him well above that height. The visual comparison might favor Trump: taller, younger, more massive, and with no gray hair.
Trump’s mental problems are already baked into his support — he’s not going to lose voters no matter how much he babbles and self-contradicts.
The applicable aphorism: Never wrestle with a pig — you’ll both get dirty, but the pig will enjoy it.
The hair on both these guys is pathetic.
Hardly an important issue, and they probably cancel each other out, but still, it’s just sad.
It’s usually the challenger who’s trying to gain stature by appearing equal to his opponent. Trump’s the President; if he’s reduced to playing catch-up with Biden, he’s in serious trouble.
The reality is we’ll have two old men on stage. Neither one is going to come out looking like JFK. Biden might win some points for looking genuine while Trump will look like somebody who’s in denial over his age, his height, his weight, his skin tone, and his hairline.
I disagree with this. I think Trump’s mental capabilities are a growing concern among voters. If he screws up during a debate and has a “senior moment” it’ll cost him votes.
All that said, I think Trump will want a debate. Trump, in my opinion, has an unrealistic assessment of his own abilities. I think he’s too confident in his own skills and too confident that Biden will be the one who makes mistakes.
No.
I’m going to vote for Biden/Harris. But he doesn’t look genuine. He looks less genuine than Trump.
He looks like someone who’s had hair plugs and one or more facelifts. Which is exactly what he is. And that, to my mind, shows a certain lack of self-confidence.
Just like Trump’s hair.
Don’t get me wrong – vanity about their looks is about the only thing they have in common. But they both make themselves look worse with their efforts to improve their appearance.
I feel this is like the verbal gaffe issue. Does Biden make them? Yes. How does he compare to Trump on this issue? He’s far better.
As I said, the same is true about what I guess we’d call the cosmetic issue. Has Biden had work done? Possibly; I’ve seen the old pictures and it does look like he may have had a hair transplant to hide his baldness. How does he compare to Trump? It’s not even close; Trump has put far more effort into trying to make himself look better. He has that silly wig, he paints himself orange, he wears those baggy suits, he gets into arguments about how big his hands are. Trump looks about as genuine as a circus clown.
That’s what Kamala is for, she’s the attack dog, a doberman. Biden is more of a pug, a likable pre-senile pug. Harris will be prez within three years, when Joe is over 80 and completely demented. BTW, Joe’s performance at the DNC is allegedly due to HGH and testosterone shots, professional hair stylist and intensive speech coaching. The hormones work for a couple years but can later cause massive cancers.
Did you hear this directly from QAnon or did you get it secondhand from Trump?
Facts are malleable, just listen to Bunker Boy speak.
Biden is taking my advice:
I agree that he should needle him about what is now the world’s longest audit.
“Mr President, can we see your taxes now? It’s been 4 years. That’s the longest audit in the history of audits.”
“Come on, Mr. President. How do we know you’re a billionaire?”
At this point I would say something like “Mr. Trump claims that the current demonstrations are what would happen in Biden’s American. Let me remind him, in case he’s forgotten that these things are happening in Trump’s America and, far from ending them he is only adding fuel to the flames.”
This ad is excellent:
Made me cry.
I feel it’s one of the weaker issues. Biden can mention it but there are better issues for him to hammer Trump with.
The problem with Trump’s taxes is that it’s a relatively abstract issue doesn’t directly hurt voters or reflect on his abilities to be President. Sure, it’s part of the evidence that he’s a liar, but that’s already been established in much better ways.
What I feel are better topics for Biden to hammer Trump with:
-
Trump’s failure to lead in the Covid19 crisis. This is a big issue that affects everyone. There’s a good public record to discredit Trump with. And it directly reflects his inability to do the job.
-
Trump pushing riots. Show Trump publicly calling for insurrections and “second amendment solutions”. Contrast his record with past presidents’. Remind everyone that he’s the cause of these problems.
-
Trump is accepting foreign money. Show all the times Trump has accepted foreign money and given sweet deals to foreign powers. It’s a combo shot of corruption and treason. And it’s something that will hurt Trump with his base.
-
Trump’s contempt for the military. Remind people of the bone spurs, the insults to McCain, the Russian bounties, the suckers and losers quotes. This is another issue that will split him from his base.
