My wife & I have enough in savings to support the family for six months if we were both out of work. (Currently only I work.) Assuming she agreed, I’d give him a sixth of that. But then, I have good insurance.
I would ask the parents of that guy I rescued in the snowmobile accident to give him a job and fix up his cabin.
I’d be sure to replace all the supplies he expended on me and then some. I’d offer him our guest room till the thaw. I’d do what I could to help him find another job in place of the one he lost because of me. And I’d probably offer him a check for maybe half of my monthly income, since I have a savings cushion.
