How can Christian Righters be against gay marriage but not divorce?

I think we’re at a standstill here. Which is fine. Did I at least give you a decent response, if not one we agree on?

Yes, certainly. I mean, I suspect i’d be pretty worried if you couldn’t, but I didn’t think there would be a flimsy rationale for it and the answers you give are definetly reasonable ones. It may just be that as you brought up before you have a greater knowledge of the Bible to draw inferences from, and certainly the vast majority of Christians thankfully don’t agree with my interpretation. Or it could be a problem of wording, not just in the Bible, but on what we think that wording means.

I do have a question though, for future debate - do you have a preference as to which version of the Bible be quoted?

The only preference I have is that it be a reasonably literal translation- like KJV, NKJV, ASB, NASB, RSV or NRSV, and less of a “dynamic equivalence” translation like the NIV, a paraphrase like The Living Bible, or a simplification like TEV (Today’s English Version). Of course, if necessary, I’ll also cite the FTV (Friar Ted Version).
