How can I clean perfume off of a CD?

Alright, a 6-year-old has sprayed some vanilla body mist perfume all over a DVD. This left a great deal of white spots all over the data surface, preventing it from being read. (The Playstation 2 version of Soul Caliber 2.) I have tried gently rubbing with water and rubbing alcohol. Neither removed any of the spots.
I’m aware that there is a thingy that can fix scratched discs by removing some of the plastic, but don’t have access to it currently. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make this stuff come off, without damaging the disk?

Vanillin is soluble in ethanol. Try soaking your disk in vodka.

Not a good idea. Alcohols make some plastics to become from transparent to cloudy.

That shouldn’t be a problem with a CD. If it were, the vanilla body mist would have already etched the surface.

Do you have a neighborhood used CD/DVD shop?

If so, go make a purchase.

Then, ask the clerk for a favor.

Ask the clerk to use his polisher on your CD.

HEY! PRESTO! Just like new.
