My friend and I are about to publish an ebook for Kindle, iPad, and other readers. It’s a self-help book and has three worksheets that the reader is encouraged to print out and fill in.
I was curious how this would work for Kindle and iPad. It will be simple enough to make the worksheet a graphic that fits on the screen, but how will the reader be able to print this off so that it neatly fits on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper (or A4, etc.)?
Thanks for your advice! I don’t actually own a Kindle myself. I have used Adobe Digital Editions to read ebooks–which is a horrible POS, by the way. I just tried to print preview a book and it froze up both times.
I don’t know that I can answer, and I don’t have a Kindle either, but… what kind of file is your book being created as?
Does a Kindle even have a printer driver? Most printer drivers have page size options, and “shrink” or “stretch” to fit on a single page options.
So far as I’m aware, the Kindle has no printing capability whatsoever. On the iPad, printing capability is dependent on the App, and most reader apps can’t do it: the Kindle App for iPad for sure can’t.
You probably need to make your worksheets separately downloadable to a more traditional computer.
Amusingly, it is possible to photocopy the Kindle’s e-ink screen; I haven’t tried it with the iPad. But that’s probably not a viable solution, anyway.
Thanks, guys. Sounds like I’ll have to make a pdf or something available online.
