I never was able to find what I was looking for. Our grandson is now 6 and will soon be old enough to look for one, himself.

I’ve been looking for this same toy to get ideas about making my own. I remember seeing one going across an ice cream shop in Rochester, NY, and it was always a joyful thing when you walked in the shop. CC, I wonder how your search ended and if you ever found or made one. I know this thread is old but I’m hoping you might see my message. Thanks.

Thanks. That’s what it looked like as best as I can remember. The description on Amazon doesn’t tell how it moves back and forth. If I can determine the mechanism, I might still be interested in buying it.
