I received an e-mail from someone on AOL (I think they might be related to me, but I’m not sure). Now, it’s been a while since I used AOL, but I seem to remember they listed personal profiles. I can’t seem to find them on the AOL site, though.
How do I go about finding out a person’s name if I know their AOL e-mail address? (Short of e-mailing that person)
No, it’s more complicated than that. We got e-mail from a reader here at my magazine, and the reader’s last name (at least, I assume it’s his/her last name–the address is ga____@aol.com, where that blank is my own last name).
The reader also indicated that he/she lives in Seattle, WA-- where almost all of my family lives. That, coupled with the fact that I rarely encounter my last name spelled in the way that it appeared in this e-mail address, piqued my curiosity.
You can always try going through another search engine. If it’s a legitimate name, and not some spam, there’s a chance that it’s listed somewhere else as well. There have been many a real name I’ve looked up on ICQ by searching for their e-mail address.
