How can I remove this - quickbrowsersearch?

Hi all,

I seem to be infected with - something.

How do I stop this stupid quickbrowsersearch window from popping up almost everytime I try to access a webpage?

Is there a simple way to remove it?

Try putting in remove quickbrowsersearch in Google (no quotation marks around it). I just did and came up with a bunch of responses.

I can’t attest to their efficacy since I don’t need to run it.

Good luck.

If Internet Explorer is your browser go to TOOLS - Internet Options - Programs Tab- Manage Add-ons Button.
Look for quickbrowsersearch and click it.
Then choose the Disable button belowand click ok.

Good luck, this usually works, but not always.

I had the dreaded Winfixer dot com that kept popping up. I think it’s different but it was a bitch to get rid of.

Spybot, avast, AVG, Ad-Aware and searches of msconfig, startup and regedit for the cursed offender finally stopped the hijacks. Try those. It took me a combo of all to rid my system of it.

For yours, one or two of the above should suffice. Good luck to you.

There’s a sticky on removing parasites and malware and such which has good advice.

I’ll add MS Antispyware Beta to the list of tools (MS bought it from Giant Software). It works very well, it’s fast, has automatic updates, regularly scheduled scans, it’s free - so far - and protects in realtime. I use it at work a lot and I’m pretty impressed with it.

Let me toss in a second of MS Antispy as well as a prop for Ewido Security.

Between Ewido, AVG, MS anti spy, Spybot, and ad aware, i have only have to bust out killbox and edit registries to kill viruses/spyware on customer machines about once a month

I use Microsoft ASW as my first line. However, i also have Spywareblaster- and now they want me to go get an new version from their website. Any use to this?

(I also have Spybot, but it’s an old version which is likely useless. I have Symatec which also helps protect)

OP- read the sticky.

Cool! You just helped me get rid of some tool bar add on search window.

Good to hear.
