I just reinstalled after a crash and now Word is again adding hundreds of red and green “advisory” squiggles under every document I view. I know there’s some way to turn that off, because I had it off before, but I can’t find it now. I’ve got all my AutoCorrect boxes unchecked, and still get the swuiggles, making it impossible to scan business letters - every person and company name is “suspect spelling”.
In Word 2000 it’s Tools, Options, Spelling&Grammar tab. Then uncheck the Check spelling as you type box and the Check grammar as you type box.
