How Can You Not Have Local Access #'s?? You Assholes are the Phone Company!

So, I’ve seen all those commericals for AT&T world net, and it sounds like a great deal. I was about to sign up for it when I discovered that in NH the only local access #'s are in Manchester (50 miles away) and Nashua (65 miles away.)

AT&T is the fucking phone company, how can they not have local numbers? If anyone would have access to local numbers, shouldn’t it be the phone company?! Add more numbers or stop advertising in my area, you assholes!

AT&T is a LONG DISTANCE phone company for the most part, yes?

Well, sort of, but according to their website–

Right there at the top:

Here’s the list for Illinois.

As usual, we Downstaters can have any local access number we want, as long as it’s Springfield or Champaign-Urbana. Needless to say, these are both long-distance charges for me in Decatur.

Not much of a rant, but still making a good point. Allow me to assist you.

Fuck ATT! They’re the fucking telephone company, aren’t they? Wouldn’t you expect the fucking telephone company to have local access numbers?!

Shee-it.

Well, the point is, AT&T isn’t “The Phone Company”–not anymore. They’re a long-distance carrier, but they don’t necessarily have any greater access to local telephone numbers than any other ISP. Now, if you want to gripe about the ISP’s not having local access numbers in your area, that’s one thing, but AT&T isn’t uniquely culpable here as compared to other companies.
