in all of my used vehicle purchases, i have never had such bad luck with my stereos as in a lincoln. my mom’s have had 100% crap rate and mine all have the same problem. iirc, philco used to do the radio/stereo thing for fords. Everyone of my other used vehicles’ (chryslers, porsches, chevys, etc…) stereos have lasted for a substantial length of time. the lincolns have been dead by 100k miles.i can’t see the luck of the draw hitting me 100% of the time- is there a recognized problem with them, and if so, what is it.
What year vehicles?
i’m sorry, balthisar. i lost this thread…now i’m back!
these are mid 80s.
Certain 80s model Lincolns are simply, crap, burdened with a whole host of problems. Based on my readings at Car Talk, the 1988 Lincoln Continental should never have left the factory. (I owned one and it was more deserving of the name “Edsel” than Lincoln.)
Weeeeellll…that would explain a lot!
thanks for the input.
