How could i record a video?

How could i record a video onto my Direct tv DVR so i can review it frame by frame?
The video is recorded with a super high speed camera and available on the web.
I just want to review a short segment frame by frame, or is there a video player that will work for me?
I used to have the video saved on the DVR but it crashed and was replaced.

A Huge Please to anyone that can help.

What format is the video file?

I dont think you can record it to your DVR
They only accept the digitized sat signals for recording, not even OTA tv signals.
Youd be better off using a video capture device and capturing it on your PC
where you could do a frame by frame with most any free video editing package

What site on the web is it available on?

If it’s YouTube, you can do frame-by-frame by pausing the video and then hitting . to go forward a frame and , to go back a frame. (You can also use L to go forward 10 seconds and J to go backwards 10 seconds>

If it’s not YouTube, read the site’s help file. Who knows, they might already do what you need.

WOW, Thanks so much for the responses!!!
Its a History Channel video like this one;

And what i am trying to get is a short clip of a gun firing and being recorded with the high speed camera.
I downloaded AVC and it will not record it.

Is there any reason why you need it recorded to your DVR if you just want to review it frame by frame?

There’s a multitude of such video available on YouTube, you can review such footage on your computer much more easily. Then just hook your computer up to your tv via HDMI if you really need to.

The only reason i need to work with the DVR is the Top Shot videos are in a format where we were not able to record.
But the 1 clip i need i have not been able to find on the episodes available on the web and they are currently replaying some episodes on the network and i am recording them but again the 1 clip i need is not aired yet.

Here is a Youtube video with Jerry Miculek on how to shoot a pistol that has 2 runs of high speed video that is excellent but missing the most important element that i need and that is where the view is showing the reaction of the atmosphere at aprox 20 ft.

Video Here The high speed is at 21:30 of the video.
And a Big Thank You to Blakeyrat for this

And can anyone tell me the speed of this video, i counted 400 frames from discharge to ready for next shot!

Use a video downloader to save it on your computer. There are many of them–this is one that I have installed on Firefox for Windows, and it can download it.

Not sure what the deal with current DirecTV dvrs. TiVos have a feature that allow you to upload videos (mpeg2 and mpeg4) to them. This uses the ethernet connection on the TiVo to a PC or Mac running TiVos software. (The original DirecTV dvrs were TiVos but that’s not been true for some time.)

Read the manual.

Or, as noted, just download the thing and watch it on a computer or tablet or … .

You would generally get good help by looking on DirecTV user forums.
