Well, if you’re really overweight and the baby’s smallish, you probably won’t notice much change in your body shape. And some women don’t have regular periods - I know that some here have mentioned not having a period for 6 months or more. And apparently she didn’t have morning sickness.
I’ve always wondered that myself. My kids kicked the shit out of me and the movements definitely did not feel like gas! Pretty wild. I think Zyada is right though. If the woman is heavy she probably wouldn’t feel the kicks and notice the changes in her body the way a thinner person would.
I’ve seen similar stories before and I’ve always wondered the same thing. The kicking and the funny feeling when the baby gets the hiccups (remember that?) just don’t feel like gas. And in the last months, you can see your abdomen stretch and distort as the little bugger stretches and moves.
On the other hand, I was 4 months along with my first child when I saw the doctor. My period came on schedule for the first couple months of the pregnancy so it was a shock when the ultrasound showed how far along I was. Still, I don’t know how anyone could reach full term without a clue!
Several years ago, my sisters best friend was in a similar situation. She was 8 months pregnant before she found out at a regular yearly gyno exam. She was not overweight, she continued to have a regular period and only gained 6 pounds during her whole pregnancy. She never had a single symptom and claimed to not have felt the baby move even once.
If I hadn’t seen it happen, I wouldn’t have believed it.
