I take sleeping pills to help me get to sleep at night. Without them, I sleep in fits and starts. I get the required REM and rest, but it’s not preferable to a few hours continuous rest. So I’ve decided to start taking some sleeping pills. Now, the packaging clearly states to take only one tablet, but it doesn’t help me overmuch. I’m male, 190 pounds or so, with no odd allergic reactions that I know of. So, can I take one-and-a-half or two pills safely, and if I can, will it help?
As the wife of a doctor, let me pass on this to you…
Free medical advice is worth exactly how much you pay for it. Do you really want to make a decision based on the input of people you don’t really know and who don’t know you, one that could be potentially harmful or fatal. The internet is full of medical advice that is at best useless and at worst deadly. Go talk to your family doc, and if you don’t have one, get one. If you can’t sleep to the extent you’ve indicated, the correct dosage of OTC sleeping pills is the least of your worries. Best of luck.
Discuss it with your pharmacist - I certainly wouldn’t just go ahead and double dose.
