How did the aca affect small businesses with sick employees

I’ve heard horror stories where a small business with a few dozen employees has one or two develop cancer or some other expensive disease. As a result that skyrockets medical spending for the entire company causing the company to double rates or drop insurance, or fire the sick person. hat did the aca do to prevent this in the future.

The short version is that insurers now have to treat the entire small employer market for each state as a single risk pool. So an individual employer’s mods won’t affect its rates.
