If it has anything to do with the Yellow River, then it would be because of loess, a yellow dust found in the river.
My first guess would be because of yellowish silt found at river outlets and such - and a brief search finds that the Yellow Sea is a:
Large inlet of the W Pacific Ocean, between NE China and the Korean peninsula. Famous for its fishing grounds, it connects with the E. China Sea on the south; the Shandong Peninsula extends into it from the west. It has an area of 180,000 sq mi (466,200 sq km) and a maximum depth of 338 ft (103 m). It derives its name from the color of the silt-laden water discharged into it by the Huang and other major Chinese rivers, incl. the Chang and Liao.
