Haven’t I seen this thread before???
My favorite one is from the Odd Couple (play and movie) Oscar Madison (to Felix Unger during a fight):
I can’t take it anymore, Felix, I’m cracking up. Everything you do irritates me. And when you’re not here, the things I know you’re gonna do when you come in irritate me. You leave me little notes on my pillow. Told you 158 times I can’t stand little notes on my pillow. “We’re all out of cornflakes. F.U.” Took me three hours to figure out F.U. was Felix Unger!
Yea, because we were so subtle about “Glory Hole”.
Stay around here long enough and you’ll see all these threads before.
A real old Saturday Night Live show (70s) had a fake sponser called “Hershey Highway.” I think the censors just missed it completely.
In the grand tradition of being asleep at the BLEEP switch, somebody forgot to edit a scene when Out of Sight aired on USA Network the other day. I realize they’re claiming to show the movies “uncut,” but they’re not, so there’s no excuse for leaving in Don Cheadle’s threat to harm another prison inmate: “He could accidentally hurt himself falling down on something real hard, you know. Like a shiv, or my dick.”
What kingpengvin said. Verbatim.
On Conan O’Brian, the masturbating bear was really shocking the first time I saw it, but nothing could have prepared me for the “new character” they introduced one night…
Camel-toe Annie
(and I feel so stupid because I just realized yesterday that the title of the South Park movie Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is a sex joke.)
On the radio (DC-101) last week, I heard a mock diamond commercial, same idea, only with the tag line, “she’ll give you anal.”
I think this is the thread that has some of us confused.
I JUST got the South Park thing now. I mean, I figured it was raunchy but I didn’t really…think about the title. I just associated it with sex/whatever stuff but never gave it a real…er, thought.
And when I found out about the Flaming Moe/Mo thing…Oh wow. So funny!! Though Jester still doesn’t believe me…
Principal Skinner asking the gerbil to “chew through my ball sack” was the Simpson’s moment that I couldn’t believe made it past the censors.
Simpsons -
Some messed up histories show -
Ned Flanders as leader of Troy, having the bigass wooden horse brought into city -
“Now, whenever anyone gives the gift of wood, they’ll think Trojans!”
Grumpy, I think USA simply allows “dick” to be played unedited. Con Air was on a few days ago and Malkovich tells someone to keep their dick in their pants, and it got through. Kind of confused me what channel I was listening to…
This will be a bit vague, since I only saw The Family Guy a few times, and I don’t remember the characters’ names, but I do remember one little scene on the show that made my jaw drop.
I forget what episode it was, but the daughter is complaining to the mother about something, while the mother is sitting at the kitchen table and the dog is sitting next to her. Eventually the daughter storms off, and after she leaves the dog turns to the mother and says “Whiny little runt, isn’t she?”. The mother gasps and the dog replies with “What? I said ‘runt’”. Heh. I can’t believe that got aired.
Don’t feel bad. Neither did the MPAA. The original title was something like, “South Park: Kenny Goes to Hell.” The MPAA said “no” to “Hell.” So Parker and Stone came back with “bigger longer and uncut,” the MPAA looked at it, and said, “Well, okay.” Then the media commented on the title of the upcoming movie, and the MPAA said, “Hey, waitaminnit!” And Parker and Stone said, “Neener neener.”
That’s the streamlined, probably somewhat apocryphal version. But the truth isn’t far away.
Ditto on not getting the South Park title at first. I just took it at face value to mean: “longer an uncut” - what the fans wanted, and “bigger” because it was on a big screen. This is all true but of course it has a double meaning which took me about a year to get.
Hell, I thought “Family Guy” was bad enough when Peter licked his own man-boob…shudder
“Futurama” also surprised me…well, maybe surprised isn’t the word. The episode where Zoidberg has cut off Fry’s arm, and is bemoaning the fact that he hasn’t had any sex that night. “What am I supposed to do with all my male jelly?!” he asks. And Fry says, “You can use this” and proffers the severed arm.
Zoggie-
Blech. I’m not easily grossed out at all but something about that entire episode absolutely disgusted me. I think it’s the only Futurama episode I haven’t seen at least twice.
Hey, the “National Anthem” that turned out to be the Star Trek fight music was hysterical.
Simpsons has used the phrase “Hershey Highwaymen”, spoken by a judge to describe unscrupulous chocolate company executives.
