I use a Western Digital 500 GB “MyBook” external hard drive. It cost about $129 on sale at O/D a few months ago. Similar and smaller ones are in this week’s e-store sales brochures.
Yup. I have a 250GB Western Digital My Passport drive. It stunned me, being able to back up critical data from both computers onto there and have plenty of space left over.
I have to admit, I bought my desktop way back when 60GB was pretty big. 
I don’t do a lot of space hogging stuff on there, so I haven’t taken up a lot of space.
And yes. I would be very leery of backing stuff up on a third party’s computers. Especially when said stuff contains stuff such as sensitive financial data and that sort of thing. :eek:
