I know being a college senior I should know this, but it’s not like engineering students have to write a lot of research papers. Thanks

If you’re using MLA style, you will find your answer at the above site. Since I don’t know what you’re working on and I don’t know what you’re trying to cite, I can’t be any more explicit. Besides, my MLA book is at home, I’m not, and I’m also leaving here for the day.
Good luck!
I wrote a detailed reply, that the hamsters ate. In essence, I said check the journal itself (some give styles notes) or the Chicago Manual of Style.
And what do you mean
???
Where are you going to school?
so if I wanted to take a direct quote out of a magazine, I would insert that quote into my paper and after the quote put the author’s name in paranthesis with the page number it appeared on? Would I have to mention the name of the magazine the article appeared in? By the way, perhaps some engineering schools have their students write research papers, but not where I go to school. I’ve written papers on my own research and findings, but never compared to another engineers work (or at least that of a licensed engineer). Perhaps I’ll run into more in upcoming years and have to eat my words. Thanks
