When I do a Search in XP, the default setting is the Start Menu.
I can’t recall ever wanting to Search there, but almost always, I want to Search my hard drives. So if there’s a way to set it to there, I’d like to know it, please.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by a lack of interest. Someone else asked a similar question and got no responses, at another site…

…and that was on 9/17/2003.
Honest.
How are you launching Search?
I Right-Click on Start, Left-Click on Search. There’s a better way?
Yes. The reason the Search location is starting out on the Start menu is because that’s where you’re clicking.
Better ways include

[li]Opening My Computer, right-clicking the drive or folder you want to search, and clicking Search.[/li][li]Left-clicking Start and going to Search|For File and Folders[/li][li]Hitting Windows-f on the keyboard.[/li][/ul]
