How do I do this? (Excel Q)

I am working on in Excel on a worksheet that is about 12 columns wide by about 150 rows.
I want row 1 to remain stationary, and the scroll to start with row 2. Row 1 has tittles for each column and data is filled in below each. (we are talking words in each cell, not numbers if that makes any difference). Anyway I want to lock the first row with all the tittles in place so that when I am editing down around row 100 I don’t have to scroll up to the top to see if I am in the correct column.

It is Excel 2002 sp3 if it makes any difference.

Select all of row 2 (click on the “2” so the whole row is highlighted).

Then, choose Window|Freeze Panes.

Enjoy.

Drag the small bar at the top of the vertical scroll bar down to where you need it (on line in your case)

Click in the area below the delineation and that area willl scroll with the headers left in place.

You sir are a genius. If our paths ever cross at a dopefest, the first round is on me.
Thanks!

Select the cell one down and one to the right of where you want the cells to freeze, and then, from the Window menu in Excel, select the option “Freeze Panes.”

For example, if you want all the titles to stay in place, you should select cell A2.

If you want the top row to stay in place when you scroll down, and the left-hand column to stay in place when you scroll right, select cell B2.

I was too wondering how to do this for years. Thanks!

I just wanted to say that I thought you said row 1 had titties for each column. Imagine my surprise when I scroll further down the thread and see a poster whose name I’d misread as Tittypig in another thread. I see a trend developing.
