How do I "facilitate the free distribution 0f literature"?

I recently applied at rather funky, cool, has-first-editions-also has cheap-paperbacks-has-poetry -reading (where they offered me next to nothing, if that, to help out. But next to nothing helping out book dealing beats next to nothing helping out hamburger distributors.)

I made the rather high falutin’ statement of my objective as: see OP title.

Any ideas? They have book reading and biweekly events. They really need a web site which I’d like to help out on. I also thought of an online or RL newsletter type thing with reviews of local writers (not many, this isn’t not much of a cultural hot spot.) and a political aspect as Obama has gotten a lot of people thinking about politics and books. And as it’s a large part a black community…

I’m thinking about doing as much as possible to reach said community, and for the bookstore to reach beyond their immediate community (which I’m only just finding out about). Any thoughts? Any bookstore owners, operators, denizens?

More writing, more reading…how do I combat censorship? what the hell do I mean by free distribution of literature anyway?

Thanks

How do I “facilitate the free distribution 0f literature”?

First thought, don’t become a book SELLER, become a LIBRARIAN.

Print out and staple bunch of copies of classic, public domain works, then drive slowly around a neighborhood in a pickup, tossing them out of the bed like free candy.

A boombox/microphone combo is recommended, but not required.

Eh, probably as good as anything else.

I give up—what the hell do you mean? Are you using “free” as in “at no cost” or as in “unrestricted”?

Oh well, mission statements aren’t supposed to mean anything anyway. They’re just supposed to sound highfalutin’ and noble.

Geez.

First of all I, the guy who runs Clasic Books, and thosands of other folks to make the distribution of books possble are not librians, we’re booksellers. Secondly I pretty clearly meant “unfettered”. Thirdly asking about promoting books, reading lack of censorship. And how bookstores can do that.Which I hope to do Thanks for fascile answeres to an imporant questions.
