How do I get my foot off the glass? A wood-burning insert question

Next time the stove is on, it’ll warm things up and probably soften up the melted sock.

Home Depot etc. sell plastic putty knives. Try one of those when the sock is already warmed up especially if you can do it before the thing is so hot it will manage to melt the putty knife.

I would bet that it will be able to be removed gradually. Might take a couple tries.

I’ve found that with a hot insert and fire, wadded-up newspaper cleans the soot off pretty well.

We’ve been burning maple, which seems to burn hotter than cedar. Haven’t had as much soot.
