Okay, time for the straight answer, courtesy of an entomologist I’ve been speaking with in the past week-- I got bitten by a tick… You should be so lucky
You need to create a no-spider-land around your house. First off check out your basement and ground floor, and make sure all the holes for your utilities are properly sealed. Check the weather stripping on your doors and windows and redo them as needed. Caulk everything.
Second, you need to do some landscaping. Get rid of all the sod and dirt that’s within a foot of your home and replace it with pebbles and gravel. Spiders hate crawling over tiny rocks, and they won’t leave the wildlife preserve that is your lawn to crawl over 12 inches of uneven stone and get into your house.
