What a way to start the morning … I’ve got about 1/4 of a bottle of shampoo on my carpet, thanks to my two boys. Any ideas on how to get it out? I’m not worried about making it perfect, because our carpet is old and crappy anyway. But I’ve got to do something. Thanks.
Shop Vac?
Rinse & Repeat.
You can add some fabric softener to the waste tank of the shop vac or carpet machine to keep the foaming down to a minimum. Otherwise you’ll be emptying tanks full of foam constantly.
Blot, don’t rub, with very absorbent towels, as much as possible. Use your body weight to really absorb all you can. Shop Vac as recommended above.
But make the effort to blot up as much as possible first. Most wet carpet cleaner machine and their related cleaning products have anti-foaming agents as the ingredients, and if you just go ahead and use a carpet cleaner machine and the products/liquids they require, I think you will be good to go.
Gee, your carpet smells terrific!
Thanks. We’ll be getting my brother-in-law’s carpet cleaner tomorrow. Thankfully, there was less on the carpet than I initially thought. Most of it was on the microsuede storage ottoman, and just a little bit got on the carpet.
Vinegar will also dissolve shampoo, but check first to make sure it doesn’t remove the dye.
Philster’s right about the towels. Stomp, move the towel, stomp, etc. Again and again, until you don’t seem to be getting any more.
By the way, don’t use the red towels. If they bleed, you’ll have a whole different problem.
