How do I give myself permission to save to a CDR?

Really dumb, I know. I would like to save a large document, about 11MB, to a CD-R. But whenever I try, I get a message saying I don’t have permission and I need to contact an admin. (isn’t that me?) about it.

  Anybody know what to do?

You don’t save to a CD-R directly (e.g., from inside a program).

Open the folder where the file is and drag it to the CD-ROM drive.

Open the CD-ROM drive folder. There should be an instruction to write the files to the CD-ROM. Click on that to start the CD writing wizard. It should be simple from there.

I tried that. Then I tried the “send to” method.
Both times, the msg. said it was inaccessible and there was an incorrect function.

Is this XP or Vista?

Xp.

Are you using an administrator account or a user account (good boys and girls, even if they’re IT pros, only use the admin account when they need to  )?

I always thought I was a user, not an admin. How could I tell?

Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Change an Account>User Name>Change Account Type>Computer Administrator>Change Account Type.

There is no User Accounts section in the Control Panel. I’ll poke around and see what I can find.
