How do I let the folks at Smarter.com know of my irritation with them?

Despite its rant-like qualities, this thread does indeed ask a specific factual question with a specific factual answer, so I think I’ve got it in the right forum.

So I’m not real happy with Smarter.com for sneaking a search engine onto my computer. When I’m Googling stuff, the damn Smarter window pops up, which given my dial-up, slows my surfing down quite a bit.

I went to the Web site and, to its credit, there were step-by-step instructions on how to get it off my computer (which I followed). The fact that the whole FAQ section was made up of these instructions, combined with the mildly apologetic text about how the Web site partnered with a third-party to deliver their product to the masses, causes me to think that they already know they pissed off a lot of people by sneaking the search engine onto all their computers.

And I’d like to tell them, too. But although the Web site insists that they welcome feedback, I could find no link that I could click to send them any mail.

Anybody know what I can do? And, no, “Get over it” is not … well, not the answer I’m looking for. Whether or not I want to complain to them is my business.

Here ya go:

Well, I haven’t seen much of the site, but if their raison d’etre has at it’s core a requirement to have software installed on unsuspecting users machines, I wouldn’t be surprised.

My response was going to be “forget them, they already know they’re pissing off everyone they meet”, but I found this old & busted page, apparently from a previous publicity campaign. Try filling it out.

Failing that - you could always report them to their upstream ISP. Of course, given that a lot of ISPs don’t even act to rid themselves of customer who spam or attack others’ computers, don’t expect too much help.

Wow, friedo, you’re the neatest!

Isn’t it annoying when someone takes over a piece of equipment that belongs to you to try to get money out of you? I bet you feel irritated, invaded and that your time and resources are being stolen.
