Say I want to create my own background comprised of images I have found in different places on the net.
How would I go about doing that?
Thanks!

Step 1. Make sure that the images you “have found in different places on the net” are ones that are in the public domain, so that you will not be doing something illegal in using them.
Good point.
If you want to put a bunch of images together you want to use something like The GIMP. Simply open a blank image file in the resolution of your desktop and import/arrange the pictures to your liking. Then save the file as a .jpg, find it in windows explorer, right click and hit “Set as Desktop background”.
Thanks to both of you!
Another option instead of The GIMP is IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.com/). You can use it the same way to create your image, then set it as your background.
Some people say that GIMP has a Linux flavor compared to more common Windows programs. I think both programs accomplish much the same tasks. And both are free!
