The manual glosses over it.
What is the make and model? Having said that, I would be surprised if it has a user-replaceable battery; very few new phones do these days.
Find the slot Insert pointy end of paper clip.
Listen for the latch decoupling, viola!
I’m curious as to why you would want to change the battery on a new phone?
Anyway, what @W0X0F said. Companies these days are trying to make it so that nobody can work on their products except them.
Not changing it as much as installing it for the first time.
Mine came with a little key, a paperclip would work similarly. I don’t think my battery comes out, but it is how you access it. It’s also where the memory card lives.
Make and model of your phone would be helpful.
We need to know make and model to help. I haven’t had a phone with an accessible battery for over a decade, but it sounds like you do have one, so which one is it so we can help?
Blu VIVO X6
Not sure if this covers your exact model, but this website, which has a how-to video, indicates that there’s a seam between the front and back covers, which one needs to gently pry loose (the writer suggests using a thumbnail).
The video below details how to remove the screen. Seems to me that is what you need to do to access the battery. Like most phones these days they make them so it is really hard to do this. There is a real chance you could damage the phone permanently if you try. Note that it requires a heat gun to loosen the adhesive they use.
Once inside you’ll have to figure out how to remove the battery but shouldn’t be too difficult at that point.
Consider taking it to an Android repair person who has experience doing this.
No no no! Do not try removing the screen. The back cover simply pops off to expose the battery. @kenobi_65 posted the correct link.
He says he’s installing the phone’s first battery, if I’m following him. Not replacing one.
(This was a reply to @Whack-a-Mole)
This video suggests it’s easiest to open the back by prying with a fingernail at the USB port. But be careful not to damage the port while doing this.
Sorry. I posted a link to a Vivo X6. A different phone.
Too bad my CNA clipped my nails the other day.
Welp, I’ll continue this adventure tomorrow. Thanks for your help, all.
The X6 is what @dropzone said he has.
So the videos and guides about a VIVO XI are offtopic.
AFAICT, the X6 doesn’t have a user-replaceable battery. It’ll take more than sturdy fingernails to pry off the back cover, remove shields, detach battery connections from the system, and untape the battery (without damaging it) from the rest of the phone.
Also, “new phone”? It was introduced 6 years ago. And a new phone (even if it’s new-in-box 6 years old) shouldn’t need battery replacement. A 6-year-old phone that’s had 6 years of use would.
I missed the “Blu” part somehow. What I posted was not the same phone.
This is the correct phone (below…I think):

Interesting. That’s newer and different from what I linked. Maybe a newer version of the same device?
I can’t find anything one way or the other whether this newer phone has a user-replaceable battery.
I can find a video on AliExpress that shows a video on the replacement of an X6 battery. It doesn’t look like a difficult operation, but it also doesn’t look like it’s supposed to be user serviceable to me:

As far as I can tell, “BLU” is just the brand. The model is Vivo X6. Though there does appear to be a non BLU branded one, so I’m confused.
