I am applying for an internship, and I need to email them my resume.
My problem is that I don’t have a specific person that I’m emailing, I just have to send the resume/email to the Human Resources Department. How should I open the letter since I can’t just say Dear Mr./Ms. so and so?
This cover letter will be actaully just an email that the resume will be attached to.

You could call the company, explain your situation, and find out the name of the person who will receive your e-mail.
Or you could go with that old standby “To Whom It May Concern”.
Or “Dear Human Resources Department” or “Dear Human Resources Director”.
Dear Director of Human Resources:
Blunt, you’re not going to impress anyone with that cover letter if you don’t do the homework and find out who the Human Resources Director is. If you can’t find the info on a website, call the company and ask the secretary for a name.
Be really nice to secretaries, receptionists, and admins. They can be your friends, and they make very bad enemies.
As noted, call the central number for the company or division where you want to apply. The person who answers may be a secretary or receptionist, but they are your first contact. Simply explain your need: “I would like to submit my resume to Megacorp Industries. Could you please tell me the name and title of the person to whom I should send it?”
