How Do I Remagnatize a Magneto?

I have a McCulloch Blower Vac and I think that the Magneto has in effect gone kaput my question is how would I recharge the magnet? any help would be apriciated

Take the cover off and see if a screwdriver will stick to the magnets on the flywheel. If it doesn’t, you need to replace it or have it remagnified; the equipment is a little spendy but some good small engine repair shops have them, as do some marine repair shops. I think if you find someone who repairs generators or small DC motors, you can remagnetize the poles with a device called a “growler”

Not the sort of thing one could easily build, or might have lying around the house.

Check your owners manual, too, or see if you can find a tech manual at the library or online; the commonest problem with those little suckers is that the coil loosens up and drifts away. It should probably be about the thickness of a matchbook cover away from the flywheel.
