How do I set up a blog?

I want to add a blog to my wife’s store web site, but I’m not sure how to get started. There is a bunch of blog SW out there but I don’t even understand if I’m looking for something to run on our servers (at a hosting company) or on our local PCs for authoring.

Our needs are pretty simple, but it would be nice to have something that generated an RSS feed as well.

On edit: I want this integrated with the store web site, not part of a blogging site.

If you have a control of your website, all you need to do is log on an type up the entry. RSS feeds are easy to create manually if you want to add that.

Check this link for some free and open source weblog software that can be integrated into your site. You could also install some sort of CMS like Joomla onto your server as well. Look into it. Google Joomla, it has a great variety of free addons as well.

If you have FTP access to your server, you might try what I’ve done a few times before:

Set up an account with blogger.com, chose a blog template and use their Publish setting to tell Blogger to publish to your website.

You’ll need your FTP user name and password. Then just log in to blogger.com from any computer that has internet access, post & publish.

Viola’.

I’d recommend creating a separate directory (folder) on your web server to accommodate your blog. (Example: http :// www. mysite. com/blog/).

Thanks all.
