It’s April Fool’s Day, and I woke up and realized that I had no tricks planned out. Several Dopers have, at one time or another, suggested taking a screenshot of the computer, then hiding the start bar and icons. However, I’ve realized 2 things:
I don’t know how to take a screenshot of the desktop.
To take a screenshot, hit the “Print Screen” button. This will copy the image to the clipboard. Just open Microsoft Paint or another imaging program and hit CTRL-V. Then save it.
To hide the Start bar, just drag it off the bottom of the screen.
To take a screenshot, press the print screen key to put the screenshot in the clipboard. Then open any Paint, or whatever program you have for manipulating images. Then you select Paste, from the Edit menu, and your screenshot should appear, which you should then save as whatever you want. I’m assuming you know how to set this as the background.
As for removing the Startbar (I assume you mean everything on the bottom row, if you hover the mouse over the line dividing the bar from everything else on the screen, you should get a double headed arrow. Then you can drag-and-drop the line to whatever position you want, which in this case is the bottom of the screen. Similarly, if you pick a part of the bar without anything on, you can drag-and-drop the whole bar to the top of the screen, or the sides.
As far as hiding the taskbar, if you are using XP, you will have to first right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and make sure that “Lock Taskbar” is unchecked.
