How do I ....?

Ok Dopers here is the deal. I am starting a wine journal for my wife and I so we can keep track of our favourites. We want to put the labels of good bottles in the book and keep notes on each.

What is the BEST way to get a label off of a wine bottle. (preferably intact)

Usually you just soak them in water until they slip off. Most better wines use a glue that is water soluable.

I tried soaking them in water overnight but that didn’t seem to loosen all of them. One out of three came off the other ones the glue held. The cheaper Spanish wine’s label came off ($20) while the more expensive Spanish ($55) and the cheap Austrailian ($17) I gave up on…any other ideas?

Soaking can work with bottles of red wine, but bottles of white wine are often put on ice to keep them chilled, and the labels are meant to stay put. It can be difficult to get those labels off intact.
