How do itches move around your body?W

So…I have an itch, say on my head. I scratch it. Immediately I get an itch in my right leg. I scratch it. Immediately I get an itch behind my left elbow. Etcetera.

Why is it so?

I experience this but it’s always on the same side of the body. I feel an itch in my foot but I try to scratch it I can’t find it. I’m scratching the spot where it seems like it itches but I don’t get any relief. Then it feels like it’s somewhere else, like higher up my leg, then I finally get relief when I scratch a spot on my head.

I attribute this to some kind of crosstalk in the nervous system where the brain has trouble interpreting the signal and figuring out where it’s coming from. This may also be related to the Chinese art of treating ailments all over the body by stimulating various spots on the feet.

Any neurologists watching?

Great. Thanks a lot for this thread.

Now I’m all itchy. :frowning:
