Violations of labor/employment law are not usually crimes.
This is what’s confusing me
Served on jury duty 3 times while employed by Boeing for a total of 28 days. Received my pay and even got to keep the jury duty pay. The last time served was with an employee of Microsoft, she was paid her salary but had to turn over her jury duty pay to Bill Gates.
Not every thing against the law is a crime. You neglect to consider civil intervention, like a lawsuit or administrative penalties against an offending employer.
Got it. Thanks
When i served i was paid by my employer. I think i wasn’t paid for jury duty because my employer paid me? The amount was laughably small, at any rate, and my employer certainly didn’t take it from me. But I don’t think the state paid me at all.
We get some small amount per day which is mandated. Obviously you can decline to deposit the check. We also get a certain amount per mile roundtrip from our home to the courthouse. It used to be self reported but now they calculate it for you. You are allowed to decline that though.
When I served on a grand jury the pay was actually good, for being on a jury. My job also paid as if I’d been at work, and I don’t think jury pay was taxed. But it was only for one or two days at a time.
