How Do Scammers Convert iTunes/Steam/WhatHaveYou Gift Cards Into Money?

Scammers have been using various tactics to get people to pay them money via iTunes gift cards, Steam gift cards, etc.

How do these get turned into money? Obviously the scammers aren’t buying music – any 13-year-old can pirate music, and if someone’s not above scamming, they’re not above pirating music. Do they resell them on the street?

They sell the codes, yeah.

I trick you into buying a $100 iTunes giftcard and telling me the barcode and PIN. I sell that info to someone for $90 bucks. I make a tidy profit and my buyer gets apple money at a discount. You, of course, get rooked but that’s what makes it a scam.
