How do the British pronounce Sheffield

From the famous steel to the Joe Cocker album to (IIRC) “The Full Monty,” I’ve assumed it would be pronounced the way it looks to American eyes. Then it occurred to me that it might be pronounced Sheffeld or even Shuffled. Anyone know?

Two syllables- Sheh-field, run them together and try not to pronounce the second h so much.
One of those names like Greenwich, pronounced Gren-itch.
Probably invented to vex foriegners.

“Shef” pronounced the same as “Chef”
“field” pronounced the same as “field”

Worcestershire Sauce. Towcester. Bicester. Edinburgh. Isn’t English wonderful?

Worcester, Massachusetts, has the same pronunciation (I assume) as the British one: something akin to “Wusster.” People told to exit the highway at the Worcester exit often get hopelessly lost because they were looking for Wusster. It’s pretty funny to out-of-staters.
