How do they make rice krispies?

They look like something fried, but you don’t get that fat film when you pour the milk. How do they make these things? Are the cooked like normal rice and then baked? Is it a puree that’s made into little rice shapes?

It’s popped like popcorn.

This site gives a very good explaination:

Rice Krispies aren’t cooked in oil, they are oven popped. You can tell because oil isn’t listed in the ingredients.

So then…could I make Rice Krispies or Cap’n Crunch in my kitchen? Or is my oven incapable of heating it that quickly?
