How do they make the props for Gozilla movies?

I want to make my own giant-monster-attacks-Tokyo style movie. What did the studios make the buildings out of so they would crash, break and crumble so easily and realistically?

Balsa wood?

cheap wood and plaster is what i’ve always heard. i don’t know if they’ve upgraded to plastics as well with the newer films, but i would think so. And you need a whole team of pyrotechnic engineers off camera to make all the explosions go off at the right time. I’ve seen full studio pictures of Godzilla films being made and it is pretty impressive.

Kaiju fan reporting in! Oh, and PLUG PLUG!

Here is a website I created about the movie Godzilla vs Destroyer (or Destoroyah).

It might answer some of your questions.

Actually, those are real buildings. They just hire a North American to wear the Godzilla suit and he walks around smashing old office towers.
