How do we like Mutants & Masterminds?

Assuming we’re still planning on Sunday morning, I should be good to go.

Quick question- I have another friend who is -not- an SDMB member who may wish to get in on this. Thought I’d check to see what popular opinion is on the idea…?

I don’t mind.

By the way Rev, do I have time to Invent anything before we meet at the bar/inn/wherever, or would you rather we started out without any invented gear?

Sunday, as I said, is bad for me. I’m out shooting till noonish.

Good luck with the game, guys. I’m about to start an M&M tabletop game locally, I think…

plots a driving route to crash Gamera’s game

Heheh. It’s going to be a Golden Age game, set in '39. Each player will have two characters, switching between them for a given mission.

Preferably without, i’m afraid. I’ll make sure there are breaks for time you could do so (hopefully if this is more than a one-off the space between sessions will be “invent things/add PP/sort powers” time).

I think Sunday afternoons were potentially better for ArrMatey!'s amigo, too. It looks as though if it’s still Sunday the best time for everyone is around 12:00 - 3:00 EST, thought that depends on what afternoon is for some and also whether people are ok with a 3 hour session with a particular point of ending. For me that’s 5-8, I think, which i’m certainly fine for.

I was coming in here to ask about times, and lo and behold, there are times! It’s a cosmic cross-genre coincidence, I tells ya!

Anyway, sounds awful good to me. I’ll notify my other player and toss him the GM’s email addy if that’s cool?

The times work for me, too!

Arr!, once we figure out what messenger to use (and here’s 1 vote for AIM), could you either PM or email Rev your IM info? Since your PM is off, I can’t send you my aim directly.

Irc!

I’m happy with aim or irc. I would prefer irc for the simple reason that it’s much easier to sort out different conversations seperately (should they be needed) but it’s not so big a difference that i’d ask people to get it if they haven’t.

Just as a reminder as to where we’re at; I have a complete and OK character sheet from Omi no Kami, a sheet which needs a bit more tweaking but is pretty much done from ArrMatey!, and as of yet no finished sheet from E-Sabbath, I think. ArrMatey! suggested his buddy observe for at least the first session, so hopefully if he’s still interested he can sort out a character when he gets into the swing of things. And yes, you can pass him my email!

(Oh, and I have a question that’s been nagging at me for a while; what does “Omi” translate as?)

Books of Magic, Infernalist, (p70) swap out half the K/Theology skill for perform (drums). And half K/arcane lore for saxamaphone.

Omi is one of the two most common high-ranking “kabane,” or ranks that were given within a clan. The “kami” in this case actually means “daughter,” and not “god,” so the whole thing translates as “Daughter of Omi”. It’s the name of my favorite character from The Tale of Genji, and since most dopers don’t speak Japanese, I get to use it without having people mistake my gender.

Shiny. Then we’re pretty much set!

And Omi, you’re right, you’ll just get functionally illiterate level speakers like me who’ll mistake you for a spirit.

That was more or less my nefarious plan… I’m terrible at thinking up names for anything, and OnK was readily recognizable Japanese, so everyone wins. ^^

Alright, so could someone tell me exactly how the irc bit is going to work? I’ve never used it, so… are we going to have to configure a chatroom, or what?

Basically I just make a channel (probably on a synIRC server) and you’d then just /join it after connecting up. But really the benefits aren’t worth the trouble of sorting it out for the first time. I’m happy to go with aim or something.

Alright, either way would be fine… I just suggested aim because it’s treated me well in other games: you can establish an aim chatroom for the main game, and separately IM the GM if you have any under-the-table business.
