That’s correct. And the amount owed is determined through legislation. And it fluctuates. If the government legislates lower tax rates, it simply means less money is owed. It is giving no one anything.
The amount owed was given a temporary forbearance. It’s a forberance we can no longer afford to fund. God bless the House Dems for killing that deal today. It’s going to expire, and then those bitches better have our money.
It isn’t “your” money. It’s theirs. As of now they owe nothing more than the government says they do. If the cuts stay in place, they will pay what they owe and the remainder will properly be theirs. If the cuts revert, they will pay what they owe and the remainder will properly be theirs. Either way, they are paying what they owe under the law. They are giving away nothing, and nothing is being given to them. The government sets the rates; the people pays the taxes. Nobody is givin’ nothin’ to nobody either way.

Bush moved the country miles to the right. Obama may have brought it back toward the center by a foot. It is still heavily slanted in favor of the extremely wealthy. The medical system may have been nudged toward doing some good for the people.
But it is the economy that dictates change. When the job problem persisted, even after a short time, many abandoned Obama and the Dems. It will not get better. So in 2 years ,who knows what happens. It may be time for a real third party. The Dems and Repubs don’t offer solutions. The Dems run in place while the Repubs unabashedly work for the wealthy.
Perhaps it will be torches and pitchforks. That will work too.
